This Barn at Gibbet Hill wedding ended up becoming a rainy and romantic day. Jess and Nick got married at the Watertown Greek Orthodox Church and had their reception at The Barn at Gibbet Hill. Even though the forecast showed one hundred percent chance of rain, these two took it with stride and decided that the rain wouldn’t take away any joy from their day. I was so impressed with how they handled everything, and I actually thought the rain brought a very intimate feel to their photos!

Jess and Nick met at a friends wedding in NYC on Chelsea Piers in November of 2016. The groom was one of Nicks friends from college, and the bride was a travel nurse where Jess worked. They struck up conversation, danced and drank the night away. Jess ditched him at the end of the night since he lived in Boston and she lived in Baltimore. Three weeks later through the magic of social media, Nick reached out to Jess. He bought a plane ticket to Baltimore for two months later. Their official first date went so well that here they are getting married!

These two belong together. They are generally opposite, but have similarities that have bonded them together. Jess is quiet and observant to begin with. Once you get to know her, she’s just a big goofball. They both love the outdoors, small towns, good food, hunting, fishing, and travel. Nick is outgoing, sociable, easy to talk to, and genuinely interested in getting to know people. He is professional and always collected in public. Just like Jess, he is complete goofball at home. The two of them have brought the best out in each-other.

The vision for their Barn at Gibbet Hill wedding was to be rustic and free. Nick grew up in Carlisle and Jess grew up in a small town in CT. Everyone in both those towns are close knit, and they all look out for one another. The part they loved about Gibbet is that its far from the city and the surrounding area is very wooded. This gives the venue that small town feel to it. Their biggest goal for the day was to have fun, and absorb the love from their friends and family. I truly believe this is exactly how it went for them, and I am excited to see them happily hitched!
